    Dear Sarah,
    Apologies for our late reply.

Let’s Speak Teochew is better for phrases. It has the Chinese characters, peng’im (pinyin) and explanations in English.

Learning Teochew is more like a workbook for consolidate your knowledge. Text are in Chinese. You can find page images of the 2 books at the product pages.

For basic oral skills, our Conversational Teochew In A Month and Spoken Dioziu series are very useful. They are free for download. You can also watch them as videos on The Teochew Store Youtube channel.

Hi Sarah, maybe can consider classes by poit ip huay kuan if you have the time.

There are 7 or 8 tones in the language and many nasal pitches. Personally it’s quite hard to pick that up from books alone (but your mileage may vary – sorry to be presumptuous).

Hi there, I would like to ask for some advice regarding the minimum and essential books I can get for learning Teochew. I would like to be able to attain at least the basic conversational level of speaking. Which books should I choose from? Let’s Speak Teochew 呾呾潮州话 or Learning Teochew 学呾潮州话. If possible, can I get more images of the pages inside to make a more informed decision before purchasing. For your context, I am a working adult that interacts with elderly. Thank you!
